Description
This car belongs to a customer who brought it to us for a pre-MoT check after a while off the road. He has owned it since April 2023 and has covered 16k fun and trouble-free miles in it during this time. After the summer last year (where it attended his wedding, no less) it was parked up and it hadn’t moved an inch before it was delivered to us a couple of weeks ago. As we all know, Italian cars of this era don’t respond well to sitting and it will now require some work before it is able to get a new MoT. Namely, the underneath will need welding and repairing. Sadly, the current owner is not in a position to go ahead with this work so has asked us to advertise it for sale as it stands.
Which, given it’s an example of the increasingly rare MK1 Punto Cabrio we were, of course, more than happy to help with. Apparently there are circa only 25 of these charming little cars left on UK roads (14 of the earlier, rougher 1.6 examples and only 9 of the far nicer to drive 1.2 16v version, to be precise) and this is literally the only one we have ever seen which benefits from the full leather interior. It even has the scarce original tonneau cover too – although after much scratching of heads here, we’re still not sure how it actually attaches! It has covered just 69k miles and appears to drive well. The electric roof operates perfectly and, although cosmetically a bit tired, the rear screen is rainproof.
These are increasingly hard to source in the UK these days, so we’d love to help find a new home for it and see it back out on the roads being enjoyed once more. Where else are you going to find a soft-top, Italian sportscar for this sort of money? We’ve even got the weather in the UK to make the most of it now too!
