Description
This car belongs to a customer of italicar who has owned it since April 2023 and has covered 16k fun and trouble-free miles in it during this time. After the summer last year (where it attended his wedding, no less) it was parked up and it hadn’t moved an inch before it was delivered to us a couple of weeks ago. We did advertise it initially as a project – but we had a quiet weekend so rolled our sleeves up and got it sorted.
It now comes ready to enjoy with a fresh MoT. To achieve this, we tidied up the underside; removing the corrosion, welding new metal in place and treating it to ensure it continues to stay in this condition. We also fitted a brand new rear exhaust system and generally checked everything over. The two minors noted on the resulting certificate (a wiper blade, and a number plate light) have now also been sorted prior to advertising. It really is ready to go!
Given it’s an example of the increasingly rare MK1 Punto Cabrio we were, of course, more than happy to do our bit and get it back on the road. Apparently there are circa only 25 of these charming little cars left on UK roads (14 of the earlier, rougher 1.6 examples and only 9 of the far nicer to drive 1.2 16v version, to be precise) and this is literally the only one we have ever seen which benefits from the full leather interior.
It has covered just 69k miles and drives very well indeed. The electric roof operates perfectly and is completely waterproof. It presents as a tidy survivor, but of course does have a few small dings and dents here and there.
We don’t know how much longer the weather will remain convertible-friendly, but what we do know is now this Punto Cabrio is all sorted for the next owner to enjoy for many more years and many more miles in the sun!
