Fiat 127
For a car as succesful and, at one time, so prominent, the disappearance of the 127 from the UK’s roads is a crying shame. Practically inventing the entire supermini format, it’s clever use of interior space, transverse leaf-sprung suspension and genuine safety innovations like crumple zones placed it way ahead of the competition.
Although they’re virtually extinct nowadays, we here at italicar have tried to do our bit in keeping their rich history alive. Back in the early days we sold a lovely example which travelled all the way up from Norwich to its new home in Glasgow. Sadly, we’ve kept very few pictures from this time, but it had such a garishly orange interior that I’m sure we’d recognise it again. We also helped save a 1050CL. This was sold before we had a chance to finish its restoration, but the sheer hell of finding a replacement bonnet for it means we’ll never forget it!
