This is the latest in a long line of Lancia restorations we’ve worked on for this particular customer; we’ve also had his green Fulvia, silver Beta Berlina and before this Series II, a Series I Beta Coupe.
That Series I was brought to us to rebuild, but before stripping it down we classed it as, sadly, being far too gone to build a satisfactory car from. So, he sourced this “restored” S2 to scratch his Beta Coupe itch.
However, he much prefers the Series I, so asked us to turn this into one, using the serviceable parts from that earlier condemnded shell. In stripping it down for these changes, we unearthed some “home restoration” repairs which we had to rectify, meaning this has basically become a full rebuild.
So, here it stands now, after lots of learning on the true differences between a Series I and Series II Lancia Beta Coupe. The TLDR version is; they’re fundamentally different and it’s not a matter of quickly swapping some bits of trim over!
