Description
Some might argue, and we here at italicar certainly will, that the Fiat Coupe was born an instant classic. With its retro tinged styling and unique flourishes (has there been a more iconic dash design in the past 30 years?) there really wasn’t much else out there like it, and even less so today. But, finally, the high regard enthusiasts have held them in for years is being matched by their appeal to modern-classic buyers. More and more of these fantastic cars are finding their way into respected classic sales with good, low-mileage LE and Plus models often fetching Maserati money.
This particular model is the mid range 2.0 5-cylinder 20V naturally aspirated version. She may not have as much power as her turbo-charged siblings (nor cost as much to maintain, mind), but her 145bhp is still more than able to leave a smile on the face of a spirited driver. It retains that uniquely addictive 5-pot burble, after all. In fact, with the enhancement of a sports-exhaust system this one sounds even better!
We have known the car for a few years now when it was originally purchased by a customer of ours (and a true Italian car enthusiast). Condition wise, she wears her 88k miles very well indeed and whilst she may not be concours, she is certainly a very presentable example. The Steel Grey paintwork bares only the smallest of marks with no major scratches, dents, scuffs or dings. The wheel arches and sills show no sign of corrosion and, having inspected it underneath, this is a very solid Coupe indeed. The wheels are in great condition, the light surrounds haven't corroded and the gorgeous chrome petrol cap still shines brightly - so none of the usual Coupe bug-bears.
The interior is on par with the exterior with everything in tact and as it should be. No rips or tears in the seats or carpets and no holes in the plastic work. She doesn't have the usual sticky plastic centre console but this does show signs that it has been stripped and repaired previously. The engine bay looks great with the detailed cam cover and everything is as it left the factory barring the addition of a cone filter (which probably adds to the noise!). Having seen and worked on many Coupes of various specs and conditions over the years, I can genuinely say this is one of the most honest and clean examples you will find today. But don't just take my word for it, feel free to come and inspect her for yourself.
Mechanically she has recieved whatever she has required over the years and this is backed up by a good array of bills and invoices (a fair few from us too). She has had two cam belt services (last undertaken around 3k miles ago), radiator, clutch, tyres and most recently we fitted a new clutch slave and master cylinder. All in all she is good to go, however upon sale we shall renew the MOT and give her a fresh service just for added piece of mind.
If you’ve been waiting to scratch the Fiat Coupe itch, now is the time to do it.
