2007 Fiat Panda 100HP
Regular visitors to this site may well recognise this Panda 100HP - we actually bought it way back in 2017. We used it ourselves, with Kirk driving to and from King’s Lynn in it each day and absolutely loving every mile. After a while, though, we started noticing an oil leak. Not an issue, we thought, easily fixed.
Fast forward to (very nearly) 2020, and we’ve reached the point you see now; the engine is completely removed. We’ve simply lost count of how many new gaskets and seals we’ve fitted to this engine. Each and every time that we were sure we’d finally got it, a mocking pool of oil would seep through and run down the back of the block. We’ve admitted defeat now, and have sourced a replacement engine. These are the lengths we go to around here - where most people would have abandoned this Panda in an auction and run as fast as possible in the opposite direction, we’ll see it through and get it back to rude hot-hatch health.
The low mileage engine we’ve bought will now be treated to new timing belt and ancillaries, and we’ll slip it all in with a brand new clutch. We’ll then be able to remind ourselves of just how much fun these things are to drive before placing this up for sale, alongside our New Orleans blue example.
