2002 Alfa Romeo GTV Cup
The Alfa Romeo GTV Cup (read here to learn more about the 916 Serie Limitata) is an exceptionally rare car, right? Well, actually, not so much around the italicar workshop. Of the 155 RHD examples ever produced, we’ve been privileged to own 3 ourselves and work on several more over the years. They’re practically common as muck on Renson Close!
This particular one has arrived with us after several years off the road. It was looking slightly undiginified at first, strapped on the recovery truck of NG Vehicle Logistics (our trusted transport supplier - highly recommended!). Don’t panic, though. We know exactly what these cars need, so it will be back standing on its own four wheels soon enough.
We haven’t actually put a spanner on the car as yet, but as big fans of this collectable modern-classic we couldn’t help but take some photos of it. Its owner has wisely tasked us with fitting a new timing belt, treating it to a fresh service, new MoT and generally giving it a full italicar bill of health before it’s back on the road for him to enjoy.
Update 19/09/20
This GTV Cup has been with us for a while now, being awakened from its five-year slumber during which it hasn’t turned a wheel. In order to ensure that the car drives as well as it looks once more, we’ve treated this Cup to quite a lot of work during our time with us:
Two new shock absorbers on the rear
Two new bump stops
New brake lines
Four new tyres
A new window mechanism
A replacement wiring harness on the passenger door
And a new MoT
It’s going to be great to see another GTV Cup back on the road very shortly, and we sincerely hope its lucky owner will thoroughly enjoy the trip back up to Lincolnshire. Check back here to see the finished results shortly.
Update 29/09/2020
Today the Cup left us on the same NG Logistics transporter as it arrived upon, the only difference being that this time it can now boast a brand new MoT, fresh service, complete health check and a brand new MoT. After a long time off the road it’s great to think that this is another of the 155 RHD GTV Cups back on the road thanks to italicar.
