Description
The updated 2010 Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce slotted the 1.4 Turbo Multiair engine (the same power unit found in Abarths) inside that pretty mini-8C front-end, adding some genuine sporting credentials to the diminuitive city-car. Weighing just 1135kg, the 135bhp on offer is more than enough to give the MiTo Veloce a free pass into hot-hatch territory. The 0-60mph benchmark is dispatched in a shade over 8 seconds and, most remarkably, most of the torque is punched out at just 1750rpm. Long gone are the days of turbo-lag delaying your fun. Press the accelerator of a MiTo Veloce, in any gear, anywhere in the rev’ range and you’re pretty much guaranteed to smile. Take this for a test drive and you might just found yourself asking “Cooper who?”
This example boasts just one previous owner who has covered only 62k miles from brand new. There’s a decent amount of service history, including a handful of stamps in the book and a huge pile of paperwork. Included in the sale is a brand new, 12 months’ MoT, 3 months’ comprehensive warranty and we will even treat the car to a full service and renew the cambelt for you at the point of sale. Finished in Nero Etna (a gorgeous metallic black with a very heavy red fleck) with the 17” horeshoe alloys, it looks great - although there are a few marks to the bodywork (see close-up photos below), but nothing more than you’d expect of a nearly ten-year-old car.
What’s the most impressive thing we’ve experienced during our time with this MiTo Veloce? The fact that you can have this much fun in such a stylish package, while somehow still enjoying some very reasonable running costs. Annual road tax is just £125, insurance shouldn’t break the bank (get a quote with the link above, we think you’ll be surprised) and if you drive sensibly (well, try, anyway!) you can actually return 50MPG and get 495 miles out of a tank.
Who said you can’t have your cake and eat it?
