Alfa Romeo 147
One of Alfa Romeo’s highest selling models of all time, the 147 delivered that rarest of qualities and offered all things for all people. A sensible, family-sized hatchback, a drop-dead gorgeous fashion statement through to a V6-fuelled, tarmac munching hot-hatch, there’s a 147 out there for every occasion. And we’ve sold pretty much all of them!
Alfa Romeo 147 3.2 V6 GTA
The 147 was our second foray into GTA territory after the 156 so we thought we knew what we were getting into. However, just one exhilirating trip in that glorious driver’s seat taught us just how naively wrong we were. While the 156 was a fast car, sure, it was at its heart very much a gran turismo. Comfortable, luxurious and actually surprisingly refined; the 156 GTA was the perfect car for a long journey down to the South of France. The 147 GTA, though? It’s a hooligan. Nothing short of an unapproachable madman. Almost impossible to drive sensibly, each of the 247-horses (courtesy of the 3.2, 24v ‘Busso’ V6 engine)chomp at the bit on the exit of every corner in these things. We bloody loved this car!
Alfa Romeo 147 2.0 Twinspark Track Car
There are endless cars we often find ourselves thinking “why did we ever sell that?!”, and this is usually right at the top of the list. A stripped out, track prepared 147 2.0 that we’d used for a few trackdays and some sprinting, we never actually put it up for sale. An Alfa Romeo obsessive and well known circuit racer came along to one of our annual Cars on the Close shows, saw the 147 and made us an offer we couldn’t refuse. Boy, do we wish we had sometimes though.
