Alfa Romeo 164 3.0 V6
So far, we’ve sold only the one 164 from under the italicar sign in Norwich...but, wow, what an example it was. Acquired from a very well known face in the AROC circles we knew it was coming from good stock, but had no idea just how great it was going to be.
Picture the perfect 164 and this was pretty much there; red over grey bodywork, 3.0 12v V6 Busso and a manual gearbox to get the most out of it. The service history needed a library to house it all in - literally every receipt from the day it had been purchased had been stored neatly away, in chronological order. Everything was completely original barring the inclusion of a Supersprint exhaust system - but when it produced a noise as delicious as it did, we forgave it this transgression (experience the growl for yourself in the Youtube video below).
Its sympathetic restoration was even covered in a five-page spread in Classics Monthly, in which it was described as “near showroom condition”. Probably our favourite iteration of “Type Four” models, the 164 may have been borne from something of a troubled period for Alfa, but it stands as one of their highlights in our opinion.
Why did we ever sell this wonderful car? It must have been a moment of utter madness.
